Women’s health remains one of the most under-invested areas in healthcare, despite affecting millions of women every day. BiotaLife® exists to change that. We’re a science-led MedTech company based in London, translating microbiome research into solutions that are both scientifically credible and genuinely easy to live with.

Our mission is to develop science-backed, microbiome-first solutions designed to relieve discomfort and address intimate health conditions by restoring and protecting the body’s own balance, and to educate, because women’s health has been overlooked and underfunded for far too long.

Microbiome first, by design
The intimate microbiome plays a central role in comfort, resilience and everyday wellbeing. Our approach is grounded in a simple principle: restore and protect that balance to relieve discomfort, rather than disrupting it with blunt, one-size-fits-all treatments. It’s a more considered way to think about intimate care, and it’s the foundation of everything we build.
Research & collaboration
Our innovation is the result of strong, multidisciplinary collaboration with leading scientific institutions and experts in microbiome research and women’s health. We work in academic partnership with King’s College London and UCL, with UCL Ventures as our founding and funding partner, grounding BiotaLife® in genuine translational research.
Together, we bring scientists, clinicians and commercial leaders into one team, combining deep expertise in microbiology, product development and healthcare innovation to translate research into real-world impact for women.
From research to real life
Our roadmap moves in two steps. BloomCalma™, our pH-balanced intimate moisturising gel for pregnancy and postpartum, brings our scientific thinking to everyday comfort, from perineal massage before birth to recovery afterwards. Alongside it, DuoBalance™, our patented, antibiotic-free and acid-free candidate medical device, is designed to address vaginal thrush and bacterial vaginosis at home. Built on the same research foundation, it is now advancing into clinical trials.

Women experience intimate discomfort, dryness and sensitivity across every hormonal transition, from pregnancy and postpartum to perimenopause and beyond. We’re starting where the need is clearest, with pregnancy, postpartum, BV and thrush, and our ambition is to become a trusted, science-led companion in daily intimate care, not just at one moment, but across a lifetime.
